Legislative alert: Proposal to regulate waste oil collection

A bill has been introduced in the state Legislature by Assemblywoman Barbara Matthews, D-Stockton, to regulate the collection and transportation of waste cooking grease. The bill, AB 1065, looks as though it has been heavily amended in the Agriculture Committee. In fact its status appears uncertain at this time.

But any attempt to further regulate the collection of waste oil is troubling to home-brewers of biodiesel and should be watched carefully.
